While the mystery picture in the Nov. 22 issue of the Oyster Bay Enterprise remains a mystery we are sure it will be identified. Just as a hint - have you ever looked up your family genealogy in Oyster Bay?
There was a good guess from Billy Minicozzi. He asked if the picture could be taken at Raynham Hall Museum. He added his hopes for a white Christmas and that the Mets have a new catcher, Johnny Estrada. It was a great coup for them. They traded him for Mota, their relief pitcher who wasn't in their future plans.
We received a call for the Nov. 11 issue after we had gone to press, but the answer was correct.
Raymond Bibla said, "The mystery picture of the Vol. 35, No. 9, Nov. 8, is the Shipwreck Tavern in Bayville. I can't believe no one guessed it."
It was a hard picture to guess since it was an interior shot, but we were confident some student of marine biology would identify the picture taken by Robert Fitzpatrick of East Norwich.
We also received an email answer to the mystery picture from Nov. 15. It said, "I am on vacation in Aruba and I can't believe that nobody recognizes 45 Audrey Ave. the main office of the Oyster Bay Water District. The water industry has long been known as the silent service, I guess we are the invisible service as well," said Robert J. McEvoy, Oyster Bay Water District commissioner. - DFK
