How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Raynham Hall Museum, 20 East Main St., Oyster Bay.

Billy Minicozzi identified the location of the Aug. 9 mystery picture as, "Outside the Oyster Bay Post Office." On a sports note, he reminded readers that while he is a Mets fan, his cousin David Agostinello is a Yankees fan. Billy was glad that Barry Bonds hit his 501st home run on a hot summer day, last Thursday night. He is pushing for the Mets getting to the World Series.
Tara Grenrich said, "The picture in the Aug. 9 issue was taken from the gazebo in Oyster Bay, looking at the Post Office."
We received an email submission that wasn't too wrong - it expressed much of the emotion behind the issue of parking in Oyster Bay, and put the location within a few feet of the photograph.
Edward B. (Woody) Ryder IV said, "Welcome back from vacation! I think the mystery photo of Aug. 10 [the Internet date of the mystery picture] is the staff parking lot behind Oyster Bay Town Hall off of Audrey Avenue; where taxpayers have to search for parking while taxpayer-funded town employees have all sorts of reserved parking!"
He could have been talking about that little area, around the gazebo, where we hear the very same complaints: that the area is used by town employees. Parking remains a "hot issue" in the little hamlet of Oyster Bay!
Back from vacation, we noted that for the first time, since its inception, there was no mystery picture in the newspaper, on Aug. 2, 2007. We apologize for the omission.
