Four Bayville Intermediate School students were recognized for their participation in the 2007 New York Federal Junior Duck Stamp Art Competition. Michael Madsen, Joseph Madsen and Aynsley Leonardis won second place in their respective categories, while Niko Martinovic received honorable mention.

"The students worked very hard on their projects," said art teacher Erin Keyes. "We are so proud of their accomplishments."

Sponsored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and open to all youth in grades kindergarten through 12, the Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest aims to educate youth about waterfowl conservation through the arts. Each participant receives a certificate with additional prizes for winning artwork. The winner in the national competition will have their artwork turned into a postage stamp, sold through the U.S. Postal Service and Amplex Corporation. They will sell for $5 and proceeds support conservation education and provide awards and scholarships for the students, teachers and schools that participate in the program.
