That answer is the Oyster Festival Committee arranged for an Exotic Petting Zoo which included camels and giraffes. The photograph was taken by Betty Tiska.
A mystery-mystery caller for the March 29 mystery picture said, "Even though I recognize the picture of the beautiful giraffe taken at the Oyster Festival, I think it's a member of the Oyster Bay Town Board putting its head out for the first time after the election, after the Democrats took over some of the land. That's what the expression on the giraffe's head says to me."
Billy Minicozzi guessed it was taken at a school carnival. He added that the TOB highway office on Miller Place is getting a new paint job.
We received an email from Michael Schaffield saying, "I just returned from a warm vacation and see (in the newspaper) a familiar wintery scene on Mill Neck Bay where Mill Neck Creek comes out toward Beaver Dam and the Bayville Bridge, all in the area bordered by Bayville, Mill Neck and Lattingtown where I live.
