  • News: Presidential Library for TR!

    Jim Bruns, the newly appointed Theodore Roosevelt Association President was quoted in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution of March 22, as planning to build a TR Presidential Library. Mr. Bruns, head of the Atlanta History Center and the Margaret Mitchell House & Museum for the past four years, will officially join the TRA on July 1. The article said, "He will leave the job officially on July 1 to join the [Theodore] Roosevelt Association, where he will head its efforts to build a presidential museum and library honoring the 26th U.S. President."   • News: Robert McEvoy Talks of Savings

    Ms. Jacobs said, "We have over 400 taxing jurisdictions in Nassau County: the county, town, village, school, fire; water, park, sewer districts and the Hicksville escalator tax and the Massapequa Memorial Day Parade District. We need a consolidation of services. There are too many layers of government. Everyone wants to own what they have - their own school district and fire district.   • Sports: Sagamore Soundings

    It is now time to get the boat in the water and to start planning barbecues and looking forward to lazy days at the beach. Over the next few weeks, boat moorings will be placed in the mooring field in Oyster Bay Harbor. Then, by the time Memorial Day arrives, the harbor scene will be magnificently dotted with boats.   • Sports: Oyster Bay East Norwich Soccer Club News

    Practice after practice at Roosevelt School gym the Tornadoes were anxious to get on the soccer field with real competition. Last week's Northeaster ice storm, further delayed their Waldbaum's cup game against Newfield a Suffolk County Division 3 team. They continued to utilize the indoor gym and a tune-up scrimmage with the Rockets at Berry Hill. The Tornadoes found themselves driving on the LIE to exit 63 to encounter the Newfield Power. All of the anticipation came down to a great sunny day and the heat turned on quickly with Newfield Power scoring in the first 5 minutes of the game on a breakaway from the Tornadoes left side of the field over our goalie Madison Fressle's head.
