Last Week’s Picture
|
John Hubbard recognized the photograph in the March 15 issue of the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot as Sagamore Hill. The picture was taken at the record-breaking Fourth of July celebration the year the Town of Oyster Bay cancelled its parade and switched it to Monday because the veterans had conflicting appointments to appear at the annual ceremonies.
Mr. Hubbard said he recognized the photo because, "I live nearby and through the years any guests who come over always want to visit Sagamore Hill. In the picture I noticed a corner of the awning on the porch. I've been there so many times walking around, toward the evening as well as when guests are over."
We received an email from David Barclay saying, "The mystery picture put out on the Internet today takes place on Sagamore Hill, next to the North Room. I'm not sure of the event, but that's the location!" He added, "Hope things are going well back in OB. We're ready for spring out here in Colorado, although I'm looking forward to a few more ski days."
Billy Minicozzi recognized the location as Sagamore Hill and he was proud of the job the Oyster Bay Town Highway Department did in clearing the roads during and after last week's sleet storm.
