The Friends Academy cross country team made great strides as the season progressed this year. Some highlights for the year include strong showings by both the boys and girls at the Saint Anthony's Invitational and the Nassau County Track Coaches Invitational. The girls' team won a second straight Class C County Championship and in the process qualified for the New York State Championships for the second straight year as a team. In that race they finished in 7th place, moving up from last year's 8th place finish. They were led by five seniors: Kathleen Durante, Diana Sher, Karina Kononenko, Chelsea Lax, and Fressia Barbagelata.

On the boys' side, the team was a picture of youth. With only one senior in the top nine runners, and dramatic improvement from 2005, the future looks bright. The boys finished second in Class C this year behind Wheatley High School. They were led by senior Andrew Lax, sophomores Eric Castillo, Ben Curran, and Harrison Hefele, and freshman Ryan Rosmarin.

The team also had a number of individuals win post season honors. On the boys' side Eric Castillo and Ben Curran earned All-Division accolades. And on the girls side KK Durante, Diana Sher, and Karina Kononenko earned All-Division and All-Conference Honors, and KK Durante earned All-State Honors as well with a 13th place finish at the New York State Meet.
