The Oyster Bay Water District held its annual election for water commissioner on Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 3 to 9 p.m. There were 135 votes cast, 124 in person and 11 absentee ballots for the only candidate, Richard P. Niznik. He was appointed by the Oyster Bay Town Board last year to replace the late John DeBellis who died in January 2005. Mr. Niznik will serve a three-year term from Jan. 1, 2007 to Dec. 31, 2009. Locust Valley High School senior Kim Brennan signed a national letter of intent to attend Bentley College in Massachusetts on an athletic scholarship. The point guard will take her athletic prowess to the New England area, where she will play for Hall of Fame coach Barbara Stevens, who has amassed more victories on the division II level than any other coach in history.
