On Sunday evening, we drove down Mill River Road and were just blown away by the sight. It was drizzly and a bit foggy at around 4:15 p.m. as we were on our way to Glen Cove to see the movie Santa Clause.

What was so amazing was the contrast between the black rain soaked tree trunks and limbs and the brilliant yellow leaves overhead and on the ground. They lit up the view as if there were hidden klieg lights in the background. It was breathtaking to see.

We are surrounded by such visual beauty here.

The sight deserved a Haiku to be written to remember it:

"Yellow Maple leaves

Highlight the black trees, and road,

An autumn stage set."

We welcome your (much better) Haiku poems about this wonderful area where we live.
