Helping Hands Preserve Historic Well House
I was honored to be mentioned in the "Helping Hands Preserve House" article in the Oct. 12 edition of the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot, written by Suzanne Sommerhalter. However, I am an Eagle Scout candidate - not an Eagle Scout - as the caption under the photo of the recently restored Well House indicated.

Boat Launch Ramps Project Begins at Western Waterfront
Work along the Western Waterfront is continuing as the plans originally created by Cameron Engineering Associates, LLP are being implemented. The two steel buildings remaining from the original Jakobson Shipyard were demolished last week and work on their rebuilding has started.

Oyster Bay Youth Travel Baseball Team
The Long Island Hellcats Baseball team completed their Fall 2006 season on Oct. 29, winning four straight games against the Jericho Bulldog landing them in second place in the National Junior Baseball League (NJBL) 10-year old division. This team, created in Oyster Bay in the fall of 2005, is made up of 10 and 11 year old boys from the Oyster Bay area with the addition of a few star players from neighboring communities such as Plainview and Bethpage. The highlight of the season was a two-game sweep of the top rated Hauppauge Eagles in a 2-1, 5-3 victory. Pitchers Joe Mistron, Patrick Crowley and Max Manos combined their talents earning credit for this huge accomplishment.

Supervisor's Oyster Fest 5 K Run: 'It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This!'
Congratulations to overall winner 23-year-old Chris Mammone of Valley Steam, who crossed the finish line in a new course record of 15 minutes, 53 seconds, and Crystal Cammarano of Point Lookout, who scored in 19:11.
