Muttontown Works Toward Open Government
The board discussed changing the procedures for a Special Use Permit. The need for a change became apparent when Verizon told the board that they did not have to appear before them with their cell tower request since it was not required in their village law. Mayor Beckerman explained the issue saying, in fact the board of trustees has been the lead agency in practice [when hearing a cell tower presentation] yet according to village law it was the job of the ZBA. She said, "I feel it is the responsibility of the board of trustees no matter how much work it involves."
