How Well Do You Know the Area?
Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Raynham Hall Museum, 20 East Main St., Oyster Bay.

Charles Schindler said, the mystery picture is from the '40s and is of the Ford dealership that turned into the Goodyear building. He said you can tell by the age of the cars out in front. "I've been here since 1970 and it was Goodyear then so that's my guess," he said.

"The mystery picture is the former tire business which is located next to the house my grandparents Roger and Jennie Royce built around 1913, at 9 Berry Hill Road, and across the street from the Boys and Girls Youth Center. Let's hope something is done soon to rid us of the terrible eyesore it is now. How about someone renovating the building to be a bed and breakfast so visitors to Oyster Bay have a nice place to stay," said Beverly Royce Aulman.

[Wouldn't it be a great bed and breakfast!]

Billy Minicozzi recognized the Goodyear building and on a sports note said, "The Giants were embarrassed after losing to the Seahawks and the Jets won against Buffalo." Billy reminded everyone that the Bayville Bridge will be closed during the month of October.

"It's the old Goodyear building across from the Girls and Boys Club," said Belle Santora of East Norwich.

Reggie Butt said the mystery picture is "The old Ford garage which then became Oyster Bay Tire. It is on Berry Hill Road. That picture goes back quite a while. The Ford garage hasn't been there for some time and right now it is an empty building."

"The mystery picture is located opposite the Hess gas station," said Bill Hoff. He said at first that he wanted it for a used car lot but as his wife Laura giggled, added that it was too big for that purpose.
