Last week we were in the vicinity of C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and decided to visit the new exhibit at the Hillwood Art Museum on solarplate etching, an innovative printmaking process, that will be on display now through Nov. 18.

There was a video to watch of Dan Welden doing solarplate printing. He made the entire process seem simple - the ability of someone who is an expert.

We were delighted to see the changes at the museum - showing that we have not visited it for a while. We wanted to tell you if you haven't been there for a while it is worth your visit.

There was also an exhibit on African art with a video of costumed dancers that was wonderful. There is a video of a trip to Macchu Picchu along with an exhibit of pottery and a restored feather-worker kit that was thrilling to see.

The museum is a little jewel. We hope you will put a visit to Hillwood Commons on your to-do list. We are sure you will be as pleased as we were.
