  • News: Open Space Pep Rally in Preparation for September 26 Town Board Meeting

    Members of the Citizens for the Protection of Open Space at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park held a pep rally in preparation for their hearing before the Oyster Bay Town Board on Tuesday, Sept. 26. There, Oyster Bay Civic Association President Marie Knight announced that the civic association will present their architect's plan for TR Park right after the Open Space group speaks. The meeting will give the Oyster Bay Town Board more suggestions on what can happen in TR Park, since they will have the final say on how the park continues into this century. FULL STORY

  • News: Bayville Bridge Closes for 24 Days

    The Nassau County Department of Public Works announced that it has deemed it necessary to once again rehabilitate the Bayville Bridge. This project is one which requires the complete closing of the bridge for 24 days during the month of October. The Bayville Bridge will be closed between Oct. 2 and Oct. 26. The bridge will reopen on Oct. 27. During this time, there will be a detour set up, guiding vehicles down Cleft, Factory Pond and Bayville Roads. The announcement was made by local Legislator Diane Yatauro. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Oyster Bay East Norwich Soccer Club News

    The Endurance, one of OBEN Soccer club's girls U10 teams, made their travel debut this past weekend against Wantagh. Excellent teamwork and hustle contributed to the 5-1 victory. Sonja Drabin started off the scoring. With beautiful passes from Lia Kakolides and Nicole Hauser, Dominique Matarese, the youngest player on the team, scored two goals and Jillian Tiberia netted the other two. Coach John Tiberia commented, "The score doesn't even matter to me. What matters is the way these girls looked to each other on the field and supported each from the sidelines. Each of them gave 100 percent, and win or lose, that's all I ask of them." The majority of the girls on this team have played in tournaments, indoor leagues and pre-travel together and it was evident in their unity on the field. The girls took their home field at East Woods School on Saturday, Sept. 16 against Albertson. Game time was at 1:15pm. FULL STORY
