How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Raynham Hall Museum, 20 East Main St., Oyster Bay.

Woodie Ryder, former board president of the Oyster Bay Historical Society identified the Sept. 7 mystery picture as, "Where Walter Karppi has his occasional coffee or tea break in the backyard garden of the Earle Wightman House. It is frequented on a daily basis by Tom Kuehhas." Mr. Kuehhas is the OBHS director.

Mr. Ryder added, "It's 9/11, five years later. God bless America and God bless Oyster Bay."

Billy Minicozzi guessed it was the garden of Raynham Hall. On a sport's note, he added that the Mets won a doubleheader over the Braves last Wednesday. He added that his cousin David is a big Yankee fan. And, he added that the football season started last weekend which was a busy one since the Jets won and the Giants lost over the past weekend.

The Mystery-Mystery picture of Aug. 24 continues to get calls. A call came in on Friday evening, after the Sept. 7 issue was "put to bed." The caller identified the Aug. 24 Mystery-Mystery picture as Centre Island Beach on the bayside. The callers were former Bayville resident Gertrude Meier, and Philip Choremi of Huntington.

Pat Aitken too, called to identify the Aug. 31 mystery picture. She said, "It's the parking lot of the town park, looking north. It is where the marina buildings burned down, at the marina."

Speaking of buildings, she said, "The new Cold Spring Harbor Library is beyond belief. You walk around, and there are leather chairs: it looks like a private club. You stand in any room and can see past Plumb Point [at the end of Centre Island] and into the Sound, It would [almost] make me move to Cold Spring Harbor just to have the library!"

Patrick Bifulco, too, recognized the Aug. 31 picture. He said, "It's taken at the TR Park, right in front the Town of Oyster Bay Marina. The picture shows the new lights installed there."

Thank you to all our callers, by voice mail or via the Internet. We appreciate your calls.
