The Matinecock Neighborhood Association held a ceremony to celebrate the dedication of the renovated Locust Valley Signal Tower at Railroad Plaza in Locust Valley on Aug. 8.

Muttontown Plans Anniversary Weekend October 14 and 15 at Chelsea Center
The Village of Muttontown was officially 75 years old on Aug. 31, 1931 and the board wants to celebrate. With 3,000 residents, they are considering how to appeal to everyone in the village to get them to come out for the events being planned. At the Tuesday, Aug. 8 board meeting Anniversary Chairperson Bette Gilmartin presented the opening gambit for the celebration. She told the board that with time running short, they are aiming at the second weekend in October, Saturday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. for the celebration to be held at Chelsea Center. Mayor Julianne Beckerman said it was very fitting since it was the home of their first mayor.

Nassau Region of Hadassah Honors Lynn Falkove and Barbara Hartstein
The Nassau Region of Hadassah will be holding its 16th Annual Golf, Tennis and Games Day on Monday Sept. 18, at the Fresh Meadow Country Club. The funds raised from the event will be going to the Goldyne Savad Institute for Genetic Research at Hadassah Hospital, enabling Hadassah doctors to further their research and find cures for diseases such as cystic fibrosis, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
