With the conclusion of the spring sports season, another year of Oyster Bay High School athletics has come to an end. The year ended on a high note as the Girls' Varsity Softball team, coached by Tim Brady, for the second time in three years, won the Nassau County and Long Island championships and advanced to the semifinals of the New York State Championship!

The Varsity Girls Track and Field team was also crowned Division 4B Champions. Additionally, Scholar Team awards went to the Girls Track and Field Badminton, Softball and Boys Baseball teams. Other teams of note were the Boys 7- and 8-Grades Baseball team, which finished their season, undefeated with an 11-0 record. The Girls Junior Varsity Softball team finished with a 10-4 mark, while setting a new school record for most runs scored in a season.

Several student athletes achieved individual honors. Kristen Serikstad, Jacklyn Henderson and Katelyn Collins each qualified for the State finals in Girls Track and Field. From the Boys Track and Field team, Austin Huminski, Steve Celauro, Charles Finn and Joe Jazwinski also qualified for the State finals. Alexandra Aarons (softball), Justin Imburgia (baseball), Jeff Bradke (golf) and Rebecca Kaplan, Kristen Serikstad, Jacklyn Henderson, Katelyn Collins (track and field) were named All-County. Ryan Mielke (golf) was awarded All-County Honorable Mention. All-Conference honors went to Ran Nakajim (softball), Alex Hudak and Dan Bianculli (baseball) and Paul Longo and Alex Meyer (golf). The following students were named All-Division: Lauren Iovino and Elizabeth Demaria (softball); Alison Dando, Katelyn Collins, Kristen Serikstad, Jacklyn Henderson, Rebecca Kaplan and Brittany Murdock (Girls Track and Field); and Steve Celauro, Austin Huminski, Joe Jazwinski, Charles Finn, Sean Igoe and Logan Kovary (Boys Track and Field). All-League honors went to Rich Allen and Eric Giordano (baseball). Alexandra Bocci won the Student Athlete Award.

As we close the book on the 2005-2006 sports season, not only should all our student athletes be commended for the way they represented Oyster Bay High School, but a special thanks should also be given to the coaches and the athletic department for their countless hours of effort and devotion to the students and this community.
