Belle Santora called to identify the Aug. 17 mystery picture. She said, 'The picture is Beekman Beach - the parking lot, facing the water."
Billy Minicozzi said the photo is Roosevelt Park where the firemen have their picnic field every year. It is near the boat ramp. He is just about where the photo was taken - by Catherine McConnell, of the Sagamore Rowing Association which launches its boats at Beekman Beach.
Sawyer Mitchell called to say, "It's the parking lot of Beekman Beach. My brother Travis rows there. He's going to Syracuse University this fall," she added.
Macy Yu called to say, "It's the parking lot of the WaterFront Center, here in Oyster Bay."
Our Internet readers also called. Rich Reynolds from upstate Niskayuna, New York left a message on our voice mail. He called to identify the online mystery picture from Aug. 10. He said, "It's Sagamore Hill and the western piazza where Theodore Roosevelt spoke from. I'm a former Glen Cove resident. You have a great little paper there. I follow it on the Internet."
Woodie Ryder sent an email saying of the Aug. 10 mystery picture, "It's Sagamore Hill, with a picnic under way." He also sent some spectacular photos of his vacation to Arizona and Nevada - they are spectacular!
We received a voice mail from David Barclay saying he was calling about the mystery picture on the Internet. He said, "It's Sagamore Hill. I'm really not sure what event is going on. It looks like it was taken from Cove Neck Road, looking up at TR's place. I hope all is well in Oyster Bay. Things are nice out here in Denver."
Thank you for all the wonderful calls. We love to hear from readers. We are sure your friends in Oyster Bay enjoy hearing from you, too.
