Katherine Gillespie Harkins, former resident of Oyster Bay, died at Outreach House in Hanover, NH, on July 1, 2006. She was 96 years old. Mrs. Harkins was born in New York City on May 13, 1910 to Michael and Catherine (nee Mallon) Gillespie. She was a retired secretary from the State University of NY at Old Westbury. She was predeceased in May of 1989 by her husband Thomas J. Harkins. She leaves a daughter Pat Matson of Vermont; a son Tom of Mattituck; a granddaughter Jeanne of Cape Cod, MA; and two nieces. Arrangements were made by the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, Mattituck. Friends called at the Gleeson Mortuary in Torrington, CT. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 11 at Our Lady of Grace RC Church. Interment at Our Lady of Grace RC Cemetery, Bantam, CT.
Richard J. Fello, 55, longtime resident of Bayville, died on July 2, 2006. Brother of William Fello. Son of the late Barney and Lucy Fello. Husband of the late Janet-Cohen Fello. Remo T. "Ray" Savino, 78, of Bayville, died on July 2, 2006 after a brief illness. He served during WWII in the US Navy and was a member of Bayville American Legion, Robert H. Spittel Post #1285. Husband of Kathleen. Father of Robert, Brian (Andrea), Mark (Elizabeth) and Dr. Richard (Lynn). Grandfather of Bret, Brendon, Chloe and John Paul.
