The Brooke Jackman Foundation has been designated as the official 5K run/one-mile walk at the third annual Health & Fitness Fair sponsored by Senator Carl Marcellino and the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce. The race will be held on Saturday, May 20 rain or shine and run through the Villages of Oyster Bay, Mill Neck and Upper Brookville. The race will begin at 10:15 a.m. and end approximately at 11:15 a.m.

"We want to inform the residents of the race route which is as follows," said Erin Jackman, race day chair.

The race will start on Larabee Avenue by the Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School, turn left on West Main Street, right on Underhill Avenue, right on Mill River Road, right on Glen Cove Road, left on Planting Fields Road. The runners will turn around and go back on to Planting Fields Road, right on Glen Cove Road, left on Lake Avenue, right on West Main Street and finishing at the Roosevelt School. This route has been used in previous races by the Long Island Runners Club.

The Brooke Jackman Foundation is a not-for-profit organization created in response to the World Trade Center attacks that claimed the life of Brooke Jackman, age 23, a lifelong resident of Oyster Bay. Its mission is to create and support programs enhancing the literacy and self-esteem of children. Proceeds from the "Brooke Jackman Run for Literacy" will directly support the Brooke Pack, Project Brooke and Brooke's Books projects offered to children in diverse city, agency and school programs. Ms. Jackman added, "We urge you to run, walk or just cheer for the participants.
