AvalonBay Protest March May 21
A large turnout is expected in opposition to the proposed construction of a 270-300-unit super-high density luxury rental complex in Oyster Bay, proposed by mega-developer AvalonBay Communities, Inc. AvalonBay has proposed the complex for a site not currently zoned for such use and is seeking nearly three and a half to four times the town's maximum permitted density.
Town Park Proposed for Carousel
Residents from the Town of Oyster Bay are cordially invited to attend the May 23 meeting of the Oyster Bay Town Board to discuss the Oyster Bay Main Street Association's vision for Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park which includes a proposed carousel project. The park is open to Town of Oyster Bay residents only and is located on a flood plain. The proposed carousel will be located where one of the town's picnic area buildings is located. The plan calls for moving it closer to the second picnic building in the park, which could cut down the area residents can use. The meeting will be held in the hearing room of Town Hall East, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, beginning at 7 p.m. That board meeting has one hearing scheduled on their calendar, and then the presentation will be made.

The race will begin at 10:15 a.m. and end approximately at 11:15 a.m.
Memorial Day is just a few days away. After participating in parades and memorial ceremonies, many boaters will go out on the waterways for the first time this boating season. Like tradition, my family will also be out on the water. However, after years of fighting the waves and the high traffic around the Memorial Day festivities we now know not to go too far from our mooring or our anchorage spot.
