Congratulations to members of the community for coming out to vote on the Oyster Bay-East Norwich bond referendum. It is not easy to go to the polls to vote yourself an increase in taxes, but the community took on the responsibility to improve our schools and it is a great thing.

Over the years we have visited other schools as part of our coverage for the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot and we have been aware that our school plants - although lovely in feeling were lacking in facilities.

We will be able to stand up and be proud of our schools and that is a good thing for the children. They should be proud of the district and this gives them yet another reason to appreciate our schools and the wonderful opportunity schools give them in forming their futures.

Children should be made aware that they are the masters of their own fates - and that we have provided the framework for them to do the hard work of studying and learning to create their own futures. We have done our work and it is time for them to do theirs.
