Congratulations to the Doubleday Babcock Senior Center board and staff. They threw a wonderful party to celebrate the retirement of their Executive Director Barbara Hadel, after 29 years of working with the center.

Walking down East Main Street from the reception held at Christ Church Parish Hall, the original home of DBSC, guests walked to the center to enjoy a night on the beach. There were Tiki lights along the street, a miniature volcano set up inside and a grass shack where guests could get welcoming drinks topped by paper umbrellas.

Inside, the entire room was decorated for a gala event. It was transformed. Gail Sperenza, new DBSC director promises more gala events will be held there.

Next week we'll have pictures of the event. It was a great night and fitting to celebrate the 29 years that Barbara Hadel has worked for the community to create a wonderful facility that we all can retire to. It is something to look forward to.

We hope if you haven't had a tour of DBSC that you call and make an appointment to look around.

The work that Barbara Hadel and Angela Koenig and their board members have done over those busy 29 years is a living work of art for the community to enjoy.

We can't say thank you enough!
