Olivia Brewster Travis

Olivia Brewster (nee Taylor) Travis, 43-year resident of "The Homestead," Cold Spring Rd., Laurel Hollow, died at Huntington Hospital on Dec. 27, 2005.

Descendant of Elder William Brewster, who arrived on The Mayflower at Plymouth in 1620, and a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames, she was born in New Canaan, CT, on Nov. 27, 1916, the eldest child of Elizabeth Williams (nee Nichols) Taylor and Edwin Pemberton Taylor, Jr. She attended the Cove School and Friends Academy, and was a graduate of the Brearley School in New York City and Bryn Mawr College, PA.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Martin Bice Travis, Jr., professor emeritus and initial chair of the Department of Political Science at the State University of New York at Stony Brook; two daughters, Elizabeth Nichols Mugharbil and son-in-law, Usama Mugharbil, of Beirut, Lebanon, and Helen Willard Travis of Woodside, Queens; two grandchildren, Raghda Mugharbil Al Zein, and her husband, Ahmad Al Zein, and Martin Ali Mugharbil and his wife, Celia Faiad Mugharbil; and two great-grandchildren, Leila Ahmad Al Zein and Yasmine Olivia Ahmad Al Zein, all of Beirut. Surviving siblings are John Williams Taylor of Laurel Hollow, Joanna Nichols Peabody of Salem, MA, Benjamin Nichols Taylor of Pompano Beach, FL, and Susan Taylor of Urbana, Il.

Arrangements were made by A. L. Jacobsen Funeral Home, Huntington. A memorial service was conducted by the Reverend Richard Raum at Old First Presbyterian Church of Huntington on Jan. 1. Interment was in St. John's Memorial Cemetery, Cold Spring Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to Old First Presbyterian Church, 125 Main St., Huntington, New York 11743.

Mary R. Minicozzi, of Oyster Bay, died on Jan. 2, 2006. She was a former chef at Del's Bar Oyster Bay. Mother of Phyllis DelColle, Joseph Sr. and the late Jeanette. Grandmother of Frank (Beth), John (Laura), Michael and the late Dina DelColle, Suzanne (Thomas Czajkowski, Joseph Jr. (Karen) and the late Lynn Marie Minicozzi. Great-grandmother of nine. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Funeral Mass at St. Dominic's RC Chapel. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Donations may be made to Doubleday Babcock Senior Center, 45 E. Main St., Oyster Bay, NY.

Eleanor Cangelosi, 84, of Bayville, died on Jan. 5, 2006. Wife of Orlando. Mother of Marie Trupia (Ron) and Joseph. Grandmother of Robert, Lisa Soria (Matthew), Jennifer, Joseph Jr., Rachel and Daniel. Arrangements were made by the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Gertrude's RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
