Teachers and administrations in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District raised money for the Sal Pipitone Scholarship Fund by participating in this year's Oyster Fest 5K run on Oct. 15. Joining together for a good cause, the 13 staff members divided themselves into three teams. Their shirts, which read "For Sal," reflected their common goal.

Team members donated an amount of money determined by their team's average time. Many staff members who did not run also supported the cause by sponsoring a team. "So far, well over $600 has been collected and the checks are still coming in," stated Kevin Cotter, a teacher at the Vernon School who organized the runners.
