The Interreligous & Human Needs Council's Community Social Action Committee is once again at work on their Thanksgiving Food Drive.
They would appreciate your donating only non-perishable food such as canned meats, canned vegetables, canned soup, beans, fruit juice, peanut butter and jelly, baby food, pasta, rice, stuffing, spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, cereal, pancake mix and syrup, pudding, jello, cake mix and frosting.
Carol and Randy Daub are the CSAC committee persons. They explained that they do not have refrigeration to care for other items. They added that all turkeys being donated must be frozen, and delivered on Tuesday morning, Nov. 22, before noon.
You may drop off items at the First Presbyterian Church at 60 East Main St., Oyster Bay on Monday, Nov. 21 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
On Tuesday, Nov. 22 volunteers will be packing up the boxes for delivery that evening so your deliveries should be made between 9 a.m. and noon.
If you need more information, or would like to volunteer to help, please contact the Daubs at 922-2054.
If you would like to provide for a specific family, you must first contact Shirlee Gerstein, at the Youth & Family Counseling Agency of Oyster Bay-East Norwich at 922-6867.
Covering the CSAC was the first story editor Dagmar Fors Karppi ever wrote for the Oyster Bay-Enterprise Pilot. It is an anniversary for us, and we will see you there. It's a great event and is truly at the heart of this wonderful area.
