Greenpeace Icebreaker Arctic Sunrise Visits Oyster Bay
The Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise and polar explorer, Eric Larsen arrived on Long Island, Wednesday, Sept. 28, to raise awareness of the threats posed by global warming and climate change and to lend support to a LIPA proposal for an offshore wind energy park.

H.M.S. Bounty's Haunted Ghost Ship Tours
This month, the famed tall ship H.M.S. Bounty, led by Captain Robin Walbridge and his crew will mark the Halloween season by transforming the 421-ton, 180-foot-long square rigger into a "Haunted Ghost Ship." During Oyster Festival 2005, Oct. 15 and 16 the ship will be docked and ready for tours at the waterfront in Oyster Bay.

Boat Smart Course Offered by OBPS
The Oyster Bay Power Squadron will offer Boat Smart, a basic safe boating course. Classes began on Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. (for 4 sessions) at the Waterfront Center in Oyster Bay.

Sagamore Soundings
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is a volunteer civilian service that helps the United States Coast Guard. It was established in 1939 to help the military carry out its noncombatant and non-law enforcement missions. There are approximately 39,000 Auxiliarists across the country. The Oyster Bay Coast Guard Auxiliary is one of thousands of local flotillas. It patrols Oyster Bay Harbor and other neighboring waterways and acts as the eyes and ears for the military.
