Friends of the Bay is one of the organizations that will be presented with checks from the fund-raising efforts of the Greater Long Island Running Club at their Sept. 20 meeting.
The featured program at the Tuesday evening, Sept. 20, meeting of the GLIRC will be a fashion show displaying all the latest in running and multisport apparel and shoes presented by The Runner's Edge, the Farmingdale-based running and multi-sport specialty store.
The meeting will be held in the new auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Road in Plainview, starting at 8 p.m. on the 20th. The general public is cordially invited to attend.
Volunteer models are very much needed and encouraged for the fashion show. Please call Bob or Nancy at The Runner's Edge at 420-7963 to be part of the show. No experience necessary.
Also on the Sept. 20 agenda will be the presentation of checks to the 1-in-9 Breast Cancer Action Coalition from the proceeds of the Vytra Women's Run, to the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation, the Long Island Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the Oyster Bay-based "Friends of the Bay" from the Vytra-TOBAY Triathlon, and to the Nassau County Museum of Art from the Sprint for the Arts.
