Oyster Bay LIRR Station Gets Federal Designation, Locomotive Gets TLC --
The Friends of Locomotive 35 had a very productive week. They received notice that they have been accepted by the federal government for the National Register of Historic Places and Scott Lindsay of Steam Operations Corporation was in Oyster Bay to work on the next step in the restoration process. Local elected officials were there to meet Mr. Lindsay on Thursday, July 21.

OB-EN District Has Large Fund Balance
At the July 19 meeting of the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Board of Education residents were surprised to hear that the district may have a fund balance of about $3 million. That money will be used to lower the tax levy, said Dr. Phyllis Harrington, superintendent of schools.

Some of the best women runners in the world joined with lots of runners from Long Island for the 22nd annual Vytra Women's Run, held on the roads of Farmingdale on Saturday morning, July 9 -- and a couple of Oyster Bay athletes - Racewalker Loretta Schellein and Masters Runner Elizabeth Penagos were among the award winners.
