CI Notified of Civil Rights Claim
The Village of Centre Island has received a notice of claim against the village for civil rights violation, false arrest and defamation. The action was initiated by the Coalition of Landlords, Homeowners and Merchants, Inc. A sign on the property of Centre Island resident H. Bogart Seaman Jr. states: "Private Property; No Trespassing; the owner of this property is a member of the Coalition of Landlords, Homeowners & Merchants, Inc."

Community Supports St. Dominic's St. Rocco Feast
St. Rocco Feast co-chair Mary Mazzo summed up this year's festival as: "Great weather, great volunteers and everyone loves St. Dominic's. There were more volunteers than ever before and that's a great sign."

Sagamore Soundings
The northeast area is starting to receive some effects of the wind and rain from tropical storms and hurricanes that are now brewing in the south. Although Long Island does occasionally get hit hard by a hurricane, sailors tend to benefit from the fair amount of wind that is generated during hurricane season. Over the next few months the wind will progressively fill-in and become a sailor's delight. The increased wind will also encourage captain's to seek out more crew to handle their boats. The Long Island Rough Riders Host Soccer Clinic at Bahnik Youth Center
Members of the Long Island Rough Riders professional soccer team visited the Boys & Girls Club of Oyster Bay-East Norwich on June 21. Matthew Chulis, Shaun Higgins and Moussa Sy spoke to the members about teamwork and the importance of being physically active. After the presentation, the children were thrilled to participate in a special clinic run by these professional soccer players, as well as to receive the autographs of the players. The kids enjoyed drills, games and cheers while proudly wearing newly autographed T-shirts.
