Contested Election in OBC
Oyster Bay Cove is having a contested election. Rosemary Bourne is running against incumbent Mayor Ralph Potente and three candidates are running to fill two seats on the board. Trustee Terri Greenfield decided not to run for office again and George Sheehan, DDS, is running against James B. Townsend and Michael Leeds. The election takes place on Tuesday, June 21 from noon to 9 p.m. at the East Woods School.

Centre Island Election Sparks
Mayor Jack Williams of Centre Island is facing a contested election with a twist. It appears to some that the timing was right for another local newspaper to have a circulation drive for their publication including unsigned letters to the editor that are critical of Mayor Williams and his administration. To be fair, said Mr. Williams on Friday, June 10, "They had one from one of my supporters, recently." Mayor Williams was concerned about the allegations in the unsigned letters.

Sagamore Soundings
The winter nesters have appeared at Sagamore Yacht Club and once again it is a hopping place. From sailboat racing to fishing derbies and club parties, Sagamore is full of activity. The varied interests of members are all linked together by the bar and dining service on the waterfront where socializing is the main activity. There are many activities where even the most diehard sailors, fisherman, and power boaters can put aside their nautical differences and have a good time.
