Tom Kuehhas, Oyster Bay Historical Society director, called and said, "Am I eligible to answer the (May 26) mystery photo, because I know where it is? It's the garden fence in back of the Earle-Whitman House as we prepared for Neighborhood Nights last year." He of course is correct!
Last week's photo, May 19, got some additional calls. Alexandra Lally of Oyster Bay said, "It's the little shop near the corner where there used to be the water spring. There is an antique shop on the corner. Most recently the gift shop called Le Canard Rouge was where the planters are. It was owned by a Mrs. Maghilacuddy and it was a delightful place. It's such a charming site. I've wished someone would turn it into a shop again. It has wrought iron railings and lovely architectural details. She used to have ranunculus in the planters. It was the first time I learned about them."
