Centre Island 'Junk Art' Law Trashed
Angry Centre Island residents gathered Wednesday, May 11, to protest a proposed law that they believed would infringe on their property rights. Centre Island residents told village officials at the crowded May meeting of the board of trustees that the proposed law, which was originally intended to prevent Centre Island resident Henry Bogart Seaman from placing toilet bowls and other forms of "junk art" in his front yard, would unfairly penalize the entire village for the misbehavior of one individual.

Panel Discusses Urban Sprawl
The threat that increased housing and community developments pose to Long Island's steadily diminishing number of open spaces has many residents worried. Locust Valley and neighboring town and village residents gathered Tuesday, May 10, at the Locust Valley Library to debate the issue of land preservation vs. development during a panel discussion sponsored by The New York Times.

Oyster Bay-East Norwich Soccer Club News
The Rockets (U10 boys) evened up their spring season on May 7 with a victory Saturday against the Albertson Killer Bees 3-2. This game was by far the best team play displayed this spring. Their record is 2-2. They take on the New Hyde Park Cosmic Cats Saturday which should prove to be another competitive match.

Jeffrey Giocondi Receives MVP Award From Buckley
Buckley Country Day School eighth grader Jeffrey Giocondi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Giocondi, earned the Most Improved Player Award as a member of the Boys' 7th and 8th Grade "A" Basketball Team.
