ASFC Holds Ceglia Fund Raiser Dance
The Atlantic Steamer Fire Company is planning a wonderful night on Saturday, March 19. "It's called our Hearts and Shamrock Dinner Dance and it's a fund raiser for the Ceglia family. He was our 2nd Assistant Chief and has been deployed to Iraq," said Chief Frank Ozol.

Townsend Family Slave Bible at Auction
A Townsend family slave Bible will be up for bids on Feb. 28 at the Swann Galleries' 10th Annual African-Americana auction. The gallery is in New York City. The 1771 Bible is described as containing a contemporary inscription on the front pastedown, which states "Bible for the Servants in the House of Samuel Townsend Oyster Bay Long Island" and the inscriptions at the end of the volume give the dates of births and deaths of the Townsend slaves. The pre-auction estimate for the Bible is between $3,000 to $4,000.

Safe Boating Course at Bayville Library
A NYS Safe Boating Certification course will be offered at the Bayville Free Library on April 9 and 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The $40 fee covers the two-Saturday program and test necessary to receive the certificate required by State law. Class is limited to 24 participants and will be conducted by a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Master. Registration is required and begins on March 1 for Bayville residents; on March 15 for all others.

LI's High School Hockey All Stars Showcase Talent at 2005 Vytra Cup
Long Island's top high school ice hockey players are slated to compete in the 9th annual Vytra Cup all-star game on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m., at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. The game, known as hockey's "Battle of Long Island," pits stars from the High School Hockey League of Nassau County against those from the Suffolk County High School Ice Hockey League.
