How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Raynham Hall Museum, 20 East Main St., Oyster Bay.

"Hello," said Camille Mastellone, Boys and Girls Club of Oyster Bay-East Norwich development director. "I should know that mystery picture. It was the Holiday Luncheon 2004 at the Metropolitan. It was so nice to see it in the newspaper. It brought back a lot of good memories."

Billy Minicozzi made a good guess, saying the picture was of a women's fashion show. He again wanted to thank the Bayville Fire Company for helping him when he pulled the muscles in his back. They took him to the hospital. "They still hurt a bit," he said. On a sports note, Billy was looking forward to the Super Bowl last Sunday and hoped the Eagles would win the game. He is also looking forward to baseball, which is coming up soon.

We received an e-mail message from Alan Dranow. He said,

"I wanted to identify the Mystery Photo in the Jan. 28 (Internet) edition of the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot as the parking lot behind Townsend Square. Actually, I remember it mostly as the Foodtown parking lot, looking toward the First Presbyterian Church in the background and the OB Community Center on the right.

"The photo was taken by someone standing with his/her back to the line of stores between Townsend Square and a bank. The stores have changed so much over the years, I couldn't tell you what they are today.

"I will say, though, that the picture (and my ability to recognize it) did make me feel homesick for my other city by the bay. (I now live in California just outside San Francisco.)

"On another note, I was sorry to see the destruction of Nobman's. I grew up shopping Nobman's and Bernstein's hardware stores and the clock tower was, to me, a symbol of downtown Oyster Bay. (But did it ever run on time?)

"My regards to you and my hometown," wrote Alan Dranow.
