ESL Kids Reach Out to American Soldiers
Generally speaking the members participating in the club's English as a second language (ESL) program are from some of the most disadvantaged families involved with Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club. This holiday season, they are engaged in the role of budding "philanthropists." ESL instructor Kathy McDonough and the Club's ESL children are working hard collecting cans and selling candied apples in an effort to help a mother whose son is fighting in Fallujah. McDonough and the children presented Jeannine Doran with the money they raised to purchase phone cards for her son Robert Doran and his Unit. Doran is also brother to Marc Bilbrey, the club's program director. The phone cards will enable Doran and his Unit to speak to their loved ones during this holiday season.
