ESL Kids Reach Out to American Soldiers
Generally speaking the members participating in the club's English as a second language (ESL) program are from some of the most disadvantaged families involved with Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club. This holiday season, they are engaged in the role of budding "philanthropists." ESL instructor Kathy McDonough and the Club's ESL children are working hard collecting cans and selling candied apples in an effort to help a mother whose son is fighting in Fallujah. McDonough and the children presented Jeannine Doran with the money they raised to purchase phone cards for her son Robert Doran and his Unit. Doran is also brother to Marc Bilbrey, the club's program director. The phone cards will enable Doran and his Unit to speak to their loved ones during this holiday season.

William A. DiConza Esq. Recipient of the Ronald Reagan Republican Gold Medal
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas), NRCC Chairman Tom Reynolds (R-New York) and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced on Dec. 23 that Mr. William A. DiConza has been chosen as a 2004 Ronald Reagan Republican Gold Medal Award winner.

OB-EN Athletes Take a Bow!
The Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District sports teams and individual team members have garnered many honors and awards during the fall 2004 season. The girls' soccer team was a Nassau County finalist, taking second place in Conference VI. Taking semifinalist honors were the boys' soccer team and girls' volleyball team. The boys' cross country team was undefeated division champion.
