Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club celebrated the club's star members at the Banquet of Champions dinner at the Crescent Club in Bayville on Oct. 21. The dinner honored over 700 outstanding Club participants who excelled in all areas of interactive clubs and Club programs including education, technology, social recreation, teen programs, sports and fitness, youths of the month, youth year as well as acknowledging Club volunteers. Over 30 programs were recognized and many Club members received more than one trophy for their achievements in different Club programs.
The evening also honored Youth of the Year, Ashley Chilesky of Locust Valley and Volunteer of the Year Frank Venturino also of Locust Valley. Rose Anderson of Lattingtown and Janet Messa of Locust Valley both received the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Volunteerism Award for their involvement in the girls athletics programs.
Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club, established in 1950, serves 225 children and teenagers daily and has an annual membership of 1,500. The Club is located at 135 Forest Avenue in Locust Valley.
