On Saturday, Jan. 17 the girls played their first soccer tournament in Franklin Square. They played seven exciting 10-minute games in the gymnasium of the local school. They won six games and lost one. Many goals were scored and spectacular saves made during the four-hour session.
All of the girls played spectacular and were recognized by the judges by awarding three most valuable players out of all the participants. Two of the three awards were earned by the OB-EN girls. Katie O'Brien was the best goalie at the tournament and Erin Allen was the best defensive player, the third award was given to a New Hyde Park player for best offense.
The girls had a great time playing soccer and just having fun, topping it off with a big first place trophy. The parents and coach are very proud of their accomplishments.
