The Oyster Bay Historical Society annual Christmas party was held in great surroundings this year. Their exhibit, Art in Oyster Bay, was still on view. They had planned to have many of the paintings auctioned off the weekend before on Saturday, Dec. 6, but the blizzard forced the cancellation of the afternoon. Tom Kuehhas, director of the OBHS is planning to re-schedule the event in the spring, to avoid this winter's weather.
The next event for the society is on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 6 p.m. and is a banquet at the Banfi Estate in Old Brookville. The gala is designed for the connoisseur. Only 40 very fortunate people will be guests of Banfi at the Gold Coast-era estate that houses their Old Brookville headquarters for an elegant black-tie evening of superb vintage wines and an incomparable seven course dinner prepared by the Mill River Inn, consistently named by Zagat as Long Island's premier dining experience. (Tickets are $400.)
Following dinner a presentation of musical selections will be given by soprano Victoria Murphy in the drawing room.
In addition, you will have an opportunity to win a luncheon at Castello Banfi in Montalcino, Italy, and a week-long stay at a nearby Tuscan villa. A chance to win this exclusive prize is included in your ticket price. Because of limited capacity, this event must be on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Please call 922-5032 for ticket information.
