MSA Inducts Members, Thanks Sponsors
The Main Street Association annual meeting on Oct. 23 at the Doubleday Babcock Senior Center had a simple agenda. They were there to induct new officers, thank the people who have provided funds for their programs and review what they accomplished over the past three years.
LI Heritage Trail Area Meeting
The Long Island Heritage Trail Area management plan is in its first stages of completion. Eve Holberg, project manager of Peter J. Smith & Company, Inc. visited the area last week, meeting with people and announcing the next phase of the work. On Dec. 3, there will be a public input opportunity for interested parties at the Port Jefferson Village Hall at 6 p.m. It is a replacement for their Aug. 14 meeting that was canceled by the giant East Coast blackout that day. Many people called and said they still wanted to add their comments to the management plan.
SYC Annual Sailing Awards Dinner
Sagamore Yacht Club, proud sponsor of the Oyster Bay Wednesday night racing series, held its combined awards dinner on Nov. 15. Jack Bernstein, captain of Luff Story, receiving the SYC Racer of the Year Award from committee co-chair Barbara Ankermann.
Oyster Bay East Norwich Soccer Club News
The Oyster Bay Titans boys U-12 team has a number of new things to adjust to this year. A new coaching staff was needed as Coach George Megalodas moved out of state. The U-12 program itself creates change as the team competes in a Nassau-Suffolk conference and the boys play 11 versus 11. The titans also welcome four new players to support the graduation to 11 vs. 11. They are Eric Helmick, Jonathan Leonardo, Duncan Lindsay and Christian Petersen. Petersen got started playing in the OBEN intramural program at age 5 had been playing for the North Shore Storm, Nassau's division III champions.
