How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Pleasant Valley Gallery & Gifts, 101 South Street, Oyster Bay.

Nancy Pirtle gave the most exact identification of last week's mystery picture (Oct. 9). "It's the moon bridge over at Chelsea house. I'm sure you've gotten lots of answers. It is a pretty well known landmark," she said.

Peter LoPipero was actually the first caller to correctly identify the Oct. 9 photo. "It's the moat around the house at Chelsea Center," he said.

Evelyn Gruber too, said, "It's the moat at Chelsea estate," as did Richard Downing.

Dulcie Fabbricante too, recognized "BeautifulChelsea." She added, "I'm also looking at last week's mystery picture and it looks like the back door of Raynham Hall Museum. It looks like a private house," she said accurately of the house museum.

On Tuesday, Oct. 7 we recived a phone call, which missed our press time. Melanie of Look Who's Cooking identified the side entrance to Raynham Hall.

The location was also identified by Lisa Manfredi, who said, "The week before's picture was of Raynham Hall Museum. I took my son Nicholas there on Easter to see the Easter Bunny."

Claire Pollicino of Oyster Bay sent an email that said, "Regarding the mystery picture in Oct. 9 issue, I think it is a side view of the Raynham Hall museum."

We also received a fax from Beverly Royce Aulman of East Norwich who said, "Last week when I looked at your mystery picture I knew immediately it was a view of the west wall of Raynham Hall Museum and thought about putting in my guess but didn't get around to it. This week I saw no one had guessed where it was so I couldn't resist sending my answer. This week's picture I believe is of Chelsea Center off of Route 25A in East Norwich.

"I enjoy the challenge of trying to figure out where each picture was taken as I was raised in Oyster Bay. My parents (Mary Royce and the late Edgar Royce) lived in Oyster Bay and East Norwich their whole lives and my grandparents (Roger and Jennie Wicks Royce) owned a general store in Oyster Bay at the early part of the 1900s."

Betty Tiska said, "I can't believe that Raynham Hall's side door hasn't been recognized! "

The photograph of Raynham Hall Museum was taken by East Norwich photographer Robert Fitzpatrick, who also took the picture in the Oct. 2 issue of the flagpole at the Planting Fields gatehouse.

Teresa Roundtree saw that picture online and said, "The picture was taken in the Oyster Bay TR park. I remember that flag pole and the wreath of flowers at the base of the park. I lived in Oyster Bay until I was 26 and now live in the city and go back faithfully every year to visit the park and my dentist and always have a good time there!"
