James E. Lippke, of Bayville, died on Sept. 25, 2003, at the age of 82, after a long illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years Margaret Ransom Lippke. Loving father of James R. Ransom (Allyn), Allen R. Lippke, Charles R. Lippke (Virginia) and Margaret E.L. Buffa (Joseph). Beloved grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of three. Brother of A. John Lippke Jr. (Emily). Brother-in-law of Charles and Mary Ransom. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral service at the Village Church of Bayville. Interment private. Joseph E. Bennett, lifelong resident of Oyster Bay, died on Oct. 7, 2003. He was ex-chief and a 60-year member of Oyster Bay Fire Co. #1. He was a founding member of the 5th Battalion Chiefs Organization and a devoted member of Teddy's Boys Drill Team for 60 years. He served in the US Army Air Force in the 493rd Fighter Squadron. Husband of the late Louise. Father of Barbara (Michael), George, Patricia (Frank) Rahilly, and Arlene Moylan. Grandfather of eight. Great-grandfather of three. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Firematic services were held on Oct. 10. Funeral Mass at St. Dominic's RC Chapel. Interment St. John's Memorial Cemetery.
