This year's Oyster Festival is proving its reputation as being one of the top three events on the east coast. The 20th annual Oyster Festival begins on Friday, Oct. 17 with a carnival and fireworks between 6:30 and 10 p.m. The Oyster Bay Supervisor's Race starts at 9 a.m. Oct. 17. The ghost and goblin volunteers of the Bayville Fire Company announce the opening of its Haunted Firehouse, now celebrating its 12th frightening year. Visitors will first arrive at Centre Island Beach, where they will be greeted and transported by bus to the Haunted Firehouse by goblins and ghosts, who will entertain them with their ghoulish antics and serve refreshments as they wait to enter. The entire firehouse will be transformed into an oasis of fright and surprises, where witches, ghosts, goblins, and other hair-raising creatures will abound. This year, there will be new and even scarier rooms of the house to visit to give visitors more fright and fun than ever. FULL STORY

The annual Boys & Girls Club of Oyster Bay-East Norwich President's Cup Golf Tournament took place on Sept. 29 at the Nassau Country Club. The event funds the exciting work at the Bahnik Center at One Pine Hollow Road, for local children.
