The John Caramico Benefit Fund Mystery Theatre Dinner has been canceled by the Atlantic Steamer Fire Company. Two weeks before the RSVP date was due, they panicked having only received 60-70 yes responses. Despite a family offering to pay for any expenses incurred (because that was their fear, that it would cost them money), they refused, and instead canceled the dinner.
Had they waited for the September 26 deadline, 192 people responded yes by that date, and as of today, 207 people responded yes and were planning on attending. The irony is, it wouldn't have cost them any money, and it would have benefited the John Caramico family by several thousand dollars. Instead, their canceling is costing them, the fire department money, and a great deal of disappointment to the John Caramico family.
The people of Oyster Bay have been so kind and generous to this fund. Please continue to support the John Caramico Benefit Fund for that family. (Mr. Caramico has been diagnosed with cancer and has not been able to work.) They are in great need and the loss of the funds that this dinner would have provided is staggering. Checks still may be sent to:
