How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Pleasant Valley Gallery & Gifts, 101 South Street, Oyster Bay.

Billy Minicozzi made a guess, but didn't "make a home run," on the Sept. 28 mystery picture. He did want to say, "Happy retirement to Bob Murphy who has been the voice of the Mets in his broadcasts for 42 years." He added it looks like another World Series championship for the Yankees.
We also received several e-mails on past mystery pictures.
"The picture is from the original PBC Center on Pine Hollow Road across from the Hess gas station. Those basketball courts were used day and night back in the '70s," said Anne Marie (McEvoy) Fallek of Northville, Michigan in an e-mail dated Sept. 6. (We receive hundreds of e-mails each week, and obviously missed opening the one from Ms. Fallek. Our apologies.)
Yvonne Logan also called about the Sept. 19 picture. "It's the Roosevelt school," she said. "I know, I work around the corner at the office of Dr. Gottlieb."
Sandra Hunt said in her e-mail, "The mystery picture looks like the Theodore Roosevelt Elementary school, under construction. That is where I had a wonderful elementary education. I thoroughly enjoy the weekly mystery pictures and trying to remember the different scenes in the place that I call "home," although I have relocated."
Anther e-mail said, "It's Joe Williams again taking a guess for the Mystery picture...it looks like Roosevelt Elementary School in Oyster Bay. I'm not positive but it does look like the school." And, or course, they were right.
It's great to hear from our e-mail readers and former residents who have moved away from town, but still like to see what's happening locally.
