  • News: Marketing Oyster Bay Hamlet

    Representatives of Brown Harris Stevens Commercial Services of Long Island addressed members of the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce at their Sept. 18 meeting at the Homestead restaurant. They are the real estate brokers that were hired by the Joint Marketing Committee of Oyster Bay, to find businesses that will populate the local retail and office space to create a revitalized hamlet. Donna Geraghty, associate broker was the main speaker. She comes to Oyster Bay after working for the past 10 years on the revitalization of Greenport, on the North Fork of Long Island. FULL STORY

  • News: Preserving Oyster Bay's Marine History

    After surviving its last ice encrusted winter on Oyster Bay Harbor and a summer waiting for attention Frank M. Flower and Sons, Inc.'s "Queen of the Fleet," Ida May, was hauled to safety by The Waterfront Center as the fall season of hurricanes and nor'easters approached. The hauling of the Ida May onto land (near the Western Waterfront bulkhead opposite Beekman Beach) is a significant milestone in the long process to preserve this important piece of Oyster Bay's history.     Oyster Bay Athletic Booster Club began this year with a fundraiser cocktail party on Sept. 6 generously hosted at the beautiful home of the Woodstocks on Centre Island. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Cruising Is Good in Oyster Bay

    Cruise Night has been a great success in Oyster Bay. Tom Vieweg of the South Street Café has been involved with the event that takes place Fridays at Firemen's Field in Oyster Bay. He reported to the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce at their Sept. 18 meeting on the success of the event. His friend Chris Briggs, the owner of Outlaw Motor Sports in Huntington and a resident of Oyster Bay, approached Mr. Vieweg and said there was a need for a place for the about 150 Long Island car clubs to meet. They had been meeting at several locations, but were constantly being "knocked out" from the sites. FULL STORY
