  • News: New Sponsors Support Oyster Fest

    Over the years the Oyster Festival has had many sponsors. Tom Reardon, this year's festival chairman remembered several of them. He has been active with the festival each of its 19 years and is looking forward to year 20. He remembered some of the first sponsors of the festival. "There was Marine Midland Bank that sponsored the bike race for many years. They are now known as HSBC Bank. Carlsburg Beer used the festival to announce that it was opening a warehouse locally, in Hicksville. (That was when the festival sold alcoholic beverages.) Over the years communications organizations used the festival to sign up people for long distance service. Every year sponsorship of the festival is very important as it helps us pay for the infrastructure that makes the event possible. Things such as buses to bring people from the Syosset LIRR station to the heart of the festival. We also have to pay for the cleanup during and after the festival. FULL STORY

  • News: Suozzi Extols Philanthropist Frank Castagna

    The opening of the newest group of stores at the Americana Manhasset was called an asset to the community by Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi. He said while not everyone was able to shop in some of the high-end stores they were all able to enjoy the space created through the vision of Frank Castagna of Castagna Realty Co. and architect/planner Peter Marino of Peter Marino + Assoc. Architects. "The statues and the plantings make you feel better. We like seeing this semi-urban shopping center. This beautiful work of art makes us all feel better and lets us enjoy life more," he said. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Oyster Bay-East Norwich Soccer Club News

    The Oyster Bay and Oyster Bay/East Norwich Soccer Clubs will compete in the annual American Ref-Fuel Soccer Tournament, New York State's largest youth soccer tournament with over 340 teams representing approximately 90 clubs. The three-day tournament, now in its 25th year, is hosted by the East Meadow Soccer Club and was scheduled to be played at up to 12 Nassau County sites on August 23, 24 and 25. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Triathletes Come to Oyster Bay for 16th Annual Vytra-TOBAY Triathlon

    A record field of 1364 recreational athletes swam, biked and ran their way to the finish line of the 16th annual edition of the Vytra-TOBAY Triathlon at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay on Sunday morning, Aug. 17. It was once again the largest multi-sport event of the year in the New York Metropolitan area. FULL STORY
