Oyster Fest Hosts Water Works Tour
The Water Works Wonders Boating & Fishing Experience Tour is on the road promoting boating, fishing and aquatic stewardship to hundreds of thousands of people across the country. The national tour makes its only Long Island stop at the 20th Annual Oyster Festival on Oct. 17-19.

Town Moratorium Protects Groundwater
At their Aug. 19 meeting, the Oyster Bay Town Board approved a six-month moratorium on building in the Special Groundwater Protection Area (SGPA), which takes in parts of East Norwich, Glen Head, Jericho, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay hamlet, Plainview, Syosset, Westbury and Woodbury, during which time the Town will prepare and adopt an Aquifer Overlay Protection District (APO).

Swim-A-Cross, A Family Affair
This year's Red Cross Swim-A-Cross sailed through successfully in spite of the blackout of Aug. 14. They had expected 170 swimmers to come to the event held on Aug. 15 at Centre Island beach in Bayville, and 140 showed up. Still, the beach was filled with people who had come to support their favorite swimmers and Jim Green, Red Cross spokesperson said they expect to reach their goal of $25,000 for the fundraiser.

Oyster Bay Power Squadron Offers Basic Safe Boating Course
The United States Power Squadron is a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to safe boating through public education. "The Oyster Bay Squadron has provided a safe boating program for over 30 years to the residents of Bayville, Brookville, East Norwich, Hicksville, Jericho, Laurel Hollow, Oyster Bay, Oyster Bay Cove, Plainview and Syosset," said Ronald Ferina, Squadron Education Officer, Oyster Bay Power Squadron.
