We hope you will read the story on page three about the new parking lot plans for Oyster Bay. The story includes a hope that the change in the lots as they are being renovated will spark a change in their usage.

They hope town employees might decide it is time to park in the Firemen's Field lot or one of the several other lots in town, and leave the area behind town hall for shoppers.

We hope local business people realize this is their one chance in a million to have their dream come true. To make it a reality they have to set an example. They have to be sure not to park in a spot that can be used by a visitor to town or a shopper. Business owners should encourage their employees to take a healthy walk from a parking location out of the center of the hamlet (it's only about two blocks in all) to their office to start the day right.

If everyone makes the effort this might be what helps Oyster Bay turn the corner into becoming a great place to shop, visit and play.

As you leave your driveway and head out to work, please remind yourself that a little effort on your part will make a big difference in the hamlet in Oyster Bay. Let's all stop pointing fingers and all work together. We can do it!
