What a wonderful morning! 433 finishers (an 8 percent increase over 2002), including virtually every single top woman runner from all of Long Island and representing every running local club, enjoyed amazing giveaways, perfect weather and an outstanding finish on the track at Farmingdale High School, at the 20th annual Vytra Health Plans Long Island Women's 5 Kilometer Run.

Roumanian national champion Luminita Talpos was the overall winner in 15:45, outkicking Colorado's Nicole Jefferson by 8 seconds. It was the second straight year that Nicole has been the Vytra runner-up.

Oyster Bay women did especially well in this year's run, led by Jean Bohan, who was the 20th finisher overall, earning third place honors in the 30-34 age group in 19:23 and Elizabeth Penagos, who scored 5th in the 55-59 age group in 24:52.

Oyster Bay Town Councilman Joe Muscarella congratulated and presented a first-place trophy to Danny Arbondonolo of Oyster Bay Cove for winning the Town of Oyster Bay High School Masters Golf tournament, during a ceremony at the town’s golf course in Woodbury.
